Vector Marketing is a direct sales company that primarily sells Cutco Knives. Their model works something like this:

This model is not like multi-level marketing (MLM) because you are not under pressure to hire people. But still, this model has a lot of loopholes that confuse people.
How does this business model work?
1. Recruitment Process
Mostly, they run ads on Facebook or job boards (like Indeed) or reach you via email for any job.
They interview you for this job, mostly online or on the phone.
The interview is very simple—they usually hire you.
2. Education
You have to attend their 2–3 day unpaid training program.
In the training, you are taught about Cutco products, told the sales pitch, and told how to give a demo.
3. Work in Sales
You call your contacts (friends/family) and fix an appointment.
Then you give them a demo of Cutco knives.
If they are interested, they order the product.
You get 10–30% commission on every sale.
So what are Cutco products?
Cutco knives are high-end stainless steel kitchen tools that are made in the USA. These are some of the features:
- Lifetime warranty
- Super sharp edges
- Durable handles
- Premium packaging
But the problem is that the price of a normal knife set can range between $300 and $2000.
Pros of Vector Marketing
Any work we do has both a positive and a negative side, so we look at the positive side of Vector Marketing.

Its biggest advantage is that it has a flexible schedule. You can do it part-time or even on weekends.
✅ Sales Experience
It has another benefit: sales experience. If you want to make a career in marketing/sales, then this becomes experience for your resume.
✅ Improved Communication
Another benefit is that it improves your communication skills. You learn to talk to strangers, give presentations, and handle objections.
✅ No Major Investment
And you usually do not have to make any investment for buying products. You normally do not need to buy the product, although at some locations you are asked to buy demo kits.
Cons of Vector Marketing
If we talk about the negative side of Vector Marketing, then
❌ Pressure to Sell to Friends and Family
The biggest negative point is selling pressure from family and friends. First of all, you are asked to target your own circle, which seems awkward to most people.
❌ Brainwashing in Sales Training
During training you are given too many expectations—that you can easily earn $1000 or $2000 per week, which is mostly not true.
❌ Low Earnings for Most
If you observe, most people have low earnings initially.
Unless you make consistent sales, your earnings can be minimal. Some places promise “base pay,” but the terms & conditions are complicated.
Should you also join Vector Marketing?
Now the question arises, should you also join Vector Marketing? Or not? This question comes to the mind of almost every student and new job seeker.
If You Are a College Student
If you want part-time work and have a passion for learning sales, then this can be the best option for you.
But do not have too much expectation from it. Just focus more on learning that you have to learn sales.
If You Want Stable Income
If you need a stable income, then this is not right for you, so do not do this job. Income is not guaranteed here.
It is commission-based—and you have to do everything yourself.
If You Do Not Like Sales
And if you do not like sales, then this job role is not right for you. Here all the work is related to sales.
Vector Marketing: Scam or Learning Experience?
Vector Marketing is not a scam, but it is not for everyone. Anyone can join it. Only those can join who:
- Want to seek through sales
- Or want to take risk
- Or you can promote these products in your network
... then you can try this opportunity.
But if you want a guaranteed salary, no pressure, and an ethical work culture—then you should not join it.
